Process vs. Outcome: Walking One Step at a Time

ree

When it comes to sports and performance, it’s easy to get caught up in the outcome—the win, the stats, the end result. But the truth is, the outcome is only the byproduct of something much more important: the process.

For me, this has been more than a coaching philosophy—it’s been personal. Since my son Rand started playing baseball back in Little League, I would always remind him: “We are building a wall, one brick at a time.” Every new skill he learned, every setback he faced, every practice rep he put in—those were the bricks. The wall wasn’t built in a day, and it certainly wasn’t about perfection, but about laying down one solid brick after another.

Through that journey, I’ve watched Rand not only grow as a baseball player but also learn how to handle adversity, stay disciplined, and trust the process. And the truth is, I’ve loved walking that path with him just as much as I’ve loved seeing him succeed.

That experience has deepened my desire to walk with others in their own process. Whether it’s in sports, performance, or life, success doesn’t come from obsessing over the scoreboard—it comes from committing to the daily actions that eventually lead you there.

Still, walking that path isn’t always easy. That’s where accountability comes in. Having someone alongside you—a coach, a mentor, a guide—can make the difference between drifting off course and staying locked in on your journey.

As a Mental Performance Coach, I believe in helping athletes and performers build a process they can trust. My role isn’t just to motivate, but to hold you accountable, keep you grounded, and remind you that success is built one intentional step at a time.

If you’re ready to strengthen your mental game and commit to the process that will take you to your goals, I’d love to help you get there.
